Goblet of Fire
11/20/2005 08:44:00 PM

If you haven't seen Goblet of Fire, you might want to read with caution. I reveal some of the plot, without being too specific.

I was in the fourth row, center. It was packed. The tickets were sold out. It was 9:45 pm. The cinema was mostly filled with teenagers, although adults and young children could be spotted here and there.

I was hooked from the moment the music started "The Story Continues" (new theme by Patrick Doyle). I'm always surprised when we get those first glimpses of Harry, Ron and Hermione. Although I've seen them in photos and interviews, to see them in the movie, older, is always fun. This time, they appeared in the Burrow: Hermione waking up a distressed Harry and a self-conscious Ron.

The movie was as dark as the third one, but filled with many humourous moments. The funniest one yet. The scene where McGonagall teaches the students how to dance has to be one of my favourites. The Weasly twins are hilarious in this scene (and many more). Oh, and did anyone see Filch run at the beginning of the movie (lol!)?

The story was well told. However, this was the first time that I had read the book before seeing the movie. I wasn't disapointed. However, my sister, who hasn't read the books, found that it lacked explanations at times. The action was moving from scene to scene very fast.

I enjoyed the Yule Ball. Spectacular. They really went all out with the set decorations. My dispointement was the shortness of the scene. And the amazing Weird Sisters songs (Do the Hippogriff, This Is The Night, Magic Works) were only played briefly, in the background mostly. I loved the interraction between Ron and Hermione. Their relationship (or the hints pointing towards a future relationship) is what motivated me to read the books, after I had seen the third movie.

Freaky! A lot of scenes are. I wouldn't be able to watch this if I was under 12, honnestly. Voldemort is disgusting, Mad Eye Moody is disturbing, and the students in the water looked kind of bizarre. The death scene is tragic.

I enjoyed how they ended it: Hermione telling the boys that she'll write to them during the summer. What worries me is the things they skipped. Are they going to affect future movies? How will they explain the Twins' ability to open their own joke shop? I didn't miss Doby though.

The movie completely made me forget that my neck was hurting.

I also saw Walk The Line, but that's another story for another post. Merci Kass pour les commentaires.
