Undescribable
It's hard to put into words the feeling that came over me when U2 got on stage Friday night.
Overwhelming. A feeling that there is something larger than me. I wonder if it's wrong to feel this way about something that isn't religious. I'm not comparing U2 to God, not even close. What was powerful was the crowd. I have never been in a room with so much energy (I work with children, so that's saying a lot). Those 20 000 people became one that night. It's like everyone forgot about their worries and preoccupations the minute they got on stage. They suddenly became aware of who they really are. That's how I felt. It's very hard to stay indifferent to U2. Bono has such a presence. His influence on a crowd is amazing. He may be more influencial than politicians. It wouldn't surprise me. He connects with the crowd the way not many people can. I've been to a considerable amount of concerts. I was never moved to this extent before. I might sound ridiculous, but I had tears in my eyes when they came on stage. I don't know how to explain it. I'm not even one of those intense fans. I just like their music and couldn't pass up the opportunity to see them live. Overwhelming. At many points, Bono stopped singing, took out his ear piece and listenned to the crowd. I can't even begin to imagine how it must feel to hear 20 000 people singing your songs. The sound was amazing. These guys know how to perform live. I understand how they could become the greatest rock band of all time. My mom heard somewhere that their success will surpass the Beatles, because they are continuing to do music. I wouldn't be surprised. It seems like the city was put on hold that night. U2 was in town for the first time since 1985. They expected the highway to be packed. Extra buses were on duty to help the flow of things. Arcade Fire openned for them. The members of that Canadian band are truly living through their music. They breathe through their instruments. They give it their all. If you get a chance to catch them live, it's a must. And U2, well, there's not much more to say. They have the ability to unite a crowd of thousands of people. It's hard to stay indifferent. I was in the 300 level (very high), and everyone was up dancing and singing. I was there on Friday November 25. In the same room as U2. It was... Overwhelming. Thanks Kass.
Concert Week
I attended a Barenaked Ladies concert on Tuesday. For those of you who don't know them, they're a Canadian band. They've been together for over 10 years, and are very popular here. You might know their songs "One Week" and "If I Had A Milion Dollars".
In a couple of hours, I'm leaving for the U2 concert. I got my tickets such a long time ago. It feels weird that the day has finally come. I heard that the stage set-up is really spectacular. I can't wait to see that, considering that there is going to be people all around the arena (in the back of the stage too). I hope their screens are good.. because I'm really high. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks Kass for the comment.
New Layout
I was inspired today to create a new layout. I had admired the other one so many times that I grew tired of it. hihi. The inspiration for this one came through a new song by Melissa O'Neil (Let It Go). Finally, they only became a small part of my layout. I found this amazing photo of the Harry Potter cast, and was instantly inspired. I decided to work horizontally this time. A 1024x768 or higher screen resolution is best to view it. I hope you like it.
I'm figuring that no one saw Goblet Of Fire, and took my warning seriously. :)
Goblet of Fire
If you haven't seen Goblet of Fire, you might want to read with caution. I reveal some of the plot, without being too specific.
I was in the fourth row, center. It was packed. The tickets were sold out. It was 9:45 pm. The cinema was mostly filled with teenagers, although adults and young children could be spotted here and there. I was hooked from the moment the music started "The Story Continues" (new theme by Patrick Doyle). I'm always surprised when we get those first glimpses of Harry, Ron and Hermione. Although I've seen them in photos and interviews, to see them in the movie, older, is always fun. This time, they appeared in the Burrow: Hermione waking up a distressed Harry and a self-conscious Ron. The movie was as dark as the third one, but filled with many humourous moments. The funniest one yet. The scene where McGonagall teaches the students how to dance has to be one of my favourites. The Weasly twins are hilarious in this scene (and many more). Oh, and did anyone see Filch run at the beginning of the movie (lol!)? The story was well told. However, this was the first time that I had read the book before seeing the movie. I wasn't disapointed. However, my sister, who hasn't read the books, found that it lacked explanations at times. The action was moving from scene to scene very fast. I enjoyed the Yule Ball. Spectacular. They really went all out with the set decorations. My dispointement was the shortness of the scene. And the amazing Weird Sisters songs (Do the Hippogriff, This Is The Night, Magic Works) were only played briefly, in the background mostly. I loved the interraction between Ron and Hermione. Their relationship (or the hints pointing towards a future relationship) is what motivated me to read the books, after I had seen the third movie. Freaky! A lot of scenes are. I wouldn't be able to watch this if I was under 12, honnestly. Voldemort is disgusting, Mad Eye Moody is disturbing, and the students in the water looked kind of bizarre. The death scene is tragic. I enjoyed how they ended it: Hermione telling the boys that she'll write to them during the summer. What worries me is the things they skipped. Are they going to affect future movies? How will they explain the Twins' ability to open their own joke shop? I didn't miss Doby though. The movie completely made me forget that my neck was hurting. I also saw Walk The Line, but that's another story for another post. Merci Kass pour les commentaires.
www.GilmoreMemories.com
My Gilmore Girls website has its very own domain. I've never had a domain before, so this is exciting news for me. I want to thank the generous Rajiv at eFanGuide for this opportunity. My website, especially my forum, has been going very well during the past year. It means a lot to me that he felt that my website deserved it.
This new domain got me thinking. I've had issues with domain websites for a while. I get the feeling that people judge the quality of a website depending on if they have a domain or not. It's frustrating when some new website, without much original content, receives 3 times more visitors that your 5-year-old website with loads of original content. Worst than that, they look down on you when you ask for affiliation. I've seen websites that don't even consider affiliation with non-domain websites. That's just plain ridiculous. I mean, it's a fact of life. We do judge books by their covers, we care about appearances, even though they can be deceiving. So it is with websites. I do it too, to be honnest. But I discovered that it can be deceiving. I've seen loads of crappy websites who have their own domain. That being said, there are a lot of amazing domain websites. I just wonder if this name change will affect my website's popularity? That will be interesting to see. I'll contact other websites soon to announce the address change and see how that goes. www.GilmoreMemories.com Grey It's grey outside. It's seems like it's been grey for days. I don't remember the last time I saw a ray of sunshine. We had snow yesterday, rain today. I miss the summer. Those days when I read my Harry Potter around the pool. My tan is gone. I'm telling you, I'm like those solar calculators. I'm at my best under the sun. Thanks Kass & Jac for the comments. Check the comment page of the last post to read my replies. I think that's what I'll do from now on.
One down
I just finished writing my essay. I've been working on it all day (and the day before that, and the day before that...). They require a lot of energy... and I gave it my full attention today. I just need to proofread and correct mistakes tomorrow. I also have a bunch of reading to catch up to, something I am not looking foward to.
I just read an interesting article about the Harry-Potter-Machine. This journalist claims that there is too much Harry Potter out there. (He must be the last on-fan alive, lol.) The article can be read here. I adore the books because of the characters. They speak to me. I can relate to them. That's what I like in a story. I do have to admit that we are hearing a lot on the subject this year, with the release of the 6th book only months apart from the release of the fourth film. But it's not always like this. But I find that they are releasing too many photos and clips from the 4th film. It's not even released, and I bet that if you watch them all, you'll only have 5 minutes of original content when you see it in theaters. No, seriously. I stopped looking at any kind of spoiler a month ago. Sorry Jac for going on and on, yet another time, about the new HP movie. It must be such a tease for you, since you have to wait a while to see it. I'll try to contain myself (which wil be extremely hard). :) But yes, Elizabethtown is a really good movie. I'm glad you enjoyed it too. Thanks Kass (I replied to your comment on the previous post's comment page) and Jac for the comments.
Come Clean
It's friday, finally. I had a class this morning, for which we did a studio interview. I was on TV. Well, on the TV that was in the studio. hihi. That's where I noticed that I should have taken more time to do my hair this morning. hihi. I then spent 40 minutes with my english literature teacher, asking her questions regarding my essay (due Tuesday). I think that in my almost-4-years of University, I had never asked a teacher for help outside of class. I felt kind of stupid (I know I shouldn't), but I just wanted to make sure that I was on the right track... before I started writing the whole thing.
The title of the post is inspired my the song I am currently listening to. Yes, it's "Come Clean" by Hilary Duff. I admit it, I'm a Hilary Duff fan. Not very original for a post title... but I'm tired. My last post must have been a bit boring, because it took a week and a half for me to get a comment. lol! Thanks Fran for commenting. I have to admit that my last post was kind of depressing, so I don't blame you all. I don't have much planned for the weekend. I have to write the essay and catch up on a lot of reading. I also have another journalism assignment due Thursday, for which I have to attend a conference on Wednesday. Busy week. But I'll be rewarded. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire comes out next friday. Exactly one week. My sister and I plan on seeing it that day. Have a nice weekend everyone!

We watched the Shania Twain movie, and then spent an hour listening to her old CDs and singing songs. Thanks for the comments Fran, Jazzy and Kass.
Wednesday @ Noon
I don't have much to report other than the fact that I'm anxiously awaiting the release of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in cinemas. I'm up to my neck in everything Harry Potter, because I'm currently leading a research project on the reader's motivations to read the Harry Potter books. I'm handing out surveys at Chapters (bookstore) and at the movie theater this weekend. All my research partner and I need at this point is a famous Hogwarts scraf. I'll look into that later today. In the meantime, my time on the computer is almost always accompagnied by the background sound of the Harry Potter GoF Soundtrack. I'm getting to know the 4 songs on the website very well. lol!
I just spent about 2 hours reading and summarizing movie/book/art reviews, for a group assignment in my "journalisme culturel" class. I feel great, because now I truly feel I did my part. I wrote my Canadian English Literature midterm on Monday (Halloween night), which went very well. I had spent my weekend either studying or sleeping (because I didn't feel that good). Other than the movie critique I have to go over for tomorrow, I don't have anything urgent. My day won't be as stressful. I'm planning to watch a movie this afternoon (while eating lunch), Raising Helen. I bought it yesterday. I finally found it at a reasonable price (still more than the previously viewed DVDs I usually buy at the video store), so I decided to give myself a treat. I love that movie. Thanks Kass, Carfentanyl, Jac and Rachel for the nice/encouraging comments.Archives:
