out of my head - elise's journal

I left for England hoping to discover new things about myself. I wanted to be stronger. Facing all these fears, and leaving on my own gave me a lot of confidence. However, once there, I realized that the motivations behind this trip didn't hold up anymore. What I had back home was way more precious than that country I wanted to discover. By leaving like this, I got to experience what it is like to be in a new environment sourrounded by new people. It's scary. However, once the fear settles down, it is possible to enjoy the experience. However, by leaving I discovered how the changes that occured in my life during the past 6 months have changed me. I felt like this trip was not what I was supposed to do at this point in my life. I decided to come home after an amazing week of new acquaintances, new discoveries and new adventures. I got to visit Herstmonceux Castle, Alfriston, Brighton, Eastbourne and London. I had a great time and am very excited to be back. It's funny, I expected to discover a lot about myself by leaving like this, but I didn't expect to come to this realization. I am very happy that everything turned out the way it did. No regrets at all.

To celebrate this new chapter in my life, I created a new layout (I was long overdue). It is inspired by the song by a new Canadian band called Mobile. I feel that the random thoughts I post here are very "out of my head". :) I absolutely adored the 50's clipart that I also chose to include. I also added a counter... the other one disapeared sometime last year as I was changing layouts.

Welcome back! I am glad that whatever it was that you wanted to do, you did it. Thats a big step in itself. You enjoy your life at home with your work, study and boyfriend... their the gems in life you cherish so the longer you have them the more amazing. :)

I will, one day, witness that realization too I hope. My difference is that sometimes I like the situation/atmosphere on my holidays so much (even on my own) more than I like my life here. :(

Hey hey, look who's back! Je suis contente de voir que ce voyage t'a apporté quelquechose, et que tu as pu visiter une bonne partie de l'Angleterre. Mon amie et moi voudrions aussi partir avec notre sac à dos et découvrir l'Europe une fois notre "scolarité" terminée, juste avant de commencer à travailler pour vrai. J'espère que ce voyage sera aussi enrichissant pour moi qu'il l'a été pour toi!
